The original studio version of "The Ending" appears on the "Salve" album.
The four-piece version of Half Zaftig tended to jam a lot, and live versions of this tune could go on for 15 minutes when we were really feeling it. We wanted to try to capture that "special" feeling in the studio, and on this take we didn't do a too shabby job of it.
Lizzy plays her solo at the end with a device called an E-Bow, that allows for endless sustain and a violin-like texture. The feedback note at the end just slays me. The only thing here that isn't truly "live" is the vocal, which was added later.
